Whatever the Current Situation Is
My friend and mentor, Khalid Darwish, passed away. He was in my thoughts the past couple of weeks and I really wanted to reach out to him and show him love and appreciation. Unfortunately, I found out he was in the hospital, and he passed away. I found another beautiful piece of advice he gave me.
“Wa’alaikum as-Salaam…Brother Samir!
InshAllaah whatever the current situation is, it’s certainly “Khair,” as affirmed by our beloved Messenger (SallAllaah ‘Alaihi wa-Sallam). Occurrences and how one responds to them in life define who one turns out be in life. In the case of a believer however, the turnout is always good.
This is because a believer recognizes that nothing happens as it unfolds and comes about without Allaah (Suhaanahu Wa-Ta’aala) allowing it. Accordingly, a believer realizes the Will of Allaah (SWT) operating behind the scenes. Such attitude and such realization turn circumstances — however difficult and unpleasant may seem — into ease and pleasure, and thus draw the believer passionately nearer to Allaah (SWT).
I know someone who — when was stranded once on the road as his vehicle got stuck — looked at Allaah (SWT) in his conscience and smiled. He smiled with passion like one smiles to an intimate friend. He realized Allaah’s (SWT) presence and HIS nearness, and experienced HIS Will operating and taking course.
The occurrence of the vehicle getting stuck and his respond to it got him closer to Allaah (SWT). So, observe the picture and realize the Presence of Allaah (SWT), and feel HIS nearness to you. Cheer up and rejoice, because Allaah (SWT) is with you, and will always be with you given that you with HIM.
Other than that, you must take care of yourself, as you said. It is certainly a mandatory requirement, “and surely your self has a right due on you,” said Prophet Mohammad (SAAW).
And as for the Halaqah, you’re very welcome to join. If you want, we can do it on Sunday in my house. With Hasan and his brother Mohammad, we do it on Friday, after Salaat at their house. May be we — including you, Hasan, and Mohammad — can arrange to do it on Sunday at my house and cancel the Friday Halaga at their house if it works out.
As in regard of learning Boxing and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) it’s evidently not Haraam, because these are regulated fighting disciplines. What’s Haraam is the cause of injuries. So, using such fighting disciplines to get in the ring for fame and money where the fighter become vulnerable to getting injured is Haraam.
Anyway, if you’re looking to improve your wellbeing which comes packaged with great feelings and well proportioned physical appearance, I urge that you do cardiovascular workouts for at least 30 minutes a day; and couple that with resistance workout like lifting weights 20 minutes to 30 minutes a day. Work out 5 to 6 days a week. Within a month to 3 months, you will begin to see positive results InshAllaah. Look for an inexpensive local gym, and join in. InshAllaah, things continue to work out for you so you continue being grateful to Allaah (SWT) more and more.”
